Other hummingbirds in Michigan

In addition to the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, which is Michigan's only regularly occurring hummingbird species, there have been other oddities that have been reported, some quite rare, and others being found with increasing frequency.  These species to date (as of December 31, 2001) include: Rufous Hummingbird, Broad-billed Hummingbird, and Green Violet-ear.  Also, an albino (entirely white) Ruby-throated Hummingbird has been reported.  Click on the menu selections at left for more information about each of these rarities.  For more information on Ruby-throated Hummingbird, visit the Observer Data and Banding Hummingbirds-Banding Data pages, or click on the Links page.
