White hummingbirds in Michigan

Hummingbirds that are entirely white, or with white patches, are rather rare. This condition is called albinism, and the individulas showing it are called albinos. Other hummingbirds are pale and may appear "bleached out". This condition is called leucism, and individuals showing it are said to be leucistic. A few of these have been reported to me from Michigan in recent years. Photos of some of them are posted below.
