Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in Michigan

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is Michigan's only regularly occurring hummingbird species.  This page is devoted to a variety of details on that species, and will be continuously updated.

Large groups of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are rarely reported in Michigan, so this group of 49 photographed by an observer in a single yard near Marenisco, Gogebic County (Michigan's far western Upper Peninsula) is unusual.  Last year in June this same observer photographed 36 birds at these same feeders.
